On Monday, 7 April 2025, the Federal Gaming Board (SFGB) hosted a national conference on illegal gambling. Representatives from 38 authorities in 19 cantons took part in the conference and discussed current phenomena and applicable practices.
The SFGB consistently fights illegal gambling in conjunction with various partners. In order to effectively implement this statutory duty, cooperation with authorities and specialist agencies is essential. The SFGB therefore regularly organises conferences on this topic.
More than 70 representatives of the police, public prosecutors and other involved cantonal authorities from 19 cantons, as well as delegations from federal authorities, accepted the invitation and exchanged views on current phenomena and current practice in combating illegal gambling at the ‘Together against illegal gambling’ conference in Olten. The exchange enabled the participants to network effectively.
Experts from various fields shared their knowledge of illegal poker games, advertising for illegal gambling, money laundering, organised crime, etc., discussed common challenges and strengthened the fight against illegal gambling. The Gambling Act provides for prison sentences of up to five years or fines for operating, organising or providing illegal casino games.
